This is on real fun that we had during the 3 days at Shantivan Resort, near Khadakvasala….
The whole batch was divided into 2 and by the time we(B and C divns) reached the venue the earlier batch had alomost started their return trip.
The outbound trip was simply awesome and an amazing experience , thanks to an organisation called Out Fit. This org is run by some of the Rtd defence Personnels in Pune. The basic idea of the whole camp was to help us know each other better.
It had been only about 10 days since we came to SIBM and everyone hardly knew each other. As usual cliques were being formed….
We had games from those meant for knowing each others’ names, to adventure stuff like burma bridge…
Carrying people piggy back and sending them thru ropes(they called the game cobweb) was a tuff job for most of the junta, thanks to lotsa horizontally inclined public!!!
Teamwork, motivation, self confidence etc (the usual HR stuff) were the qualities that they were successful in building among us…
Impeccable planning from Out Fit’s side was behind the whole effort…
End result: Aching Hands and body, dozed off in class today…(guest lecture by a Stanchart guy)
Soaked, dirtied in the slush and rain…(rolled like a pig on the ground, mostly fell down while playing the so called management games )
Camaraderie built in the grp…
Me acted in a skit(a small role)-first time ever in life -an acting adventure….
A revelation that homosexuality and unnatural sex(animals!!!) sells better that the normal one when it comes to making people laugh(the camp fire skits were enf for ne one to get this point right)
Gotta a presentation tomorrow on the Industrial Visit, forgot what I saw in the industry(Forbes Marshall)…
Just check out this pic… belfore heading elsewhere

In my earlier college life, in the hot state of Andhra Pradesh, precisely in the naxal infected town of Warangal, the taste of food was right upto the manageable limits( in places around the college and even in the college mess and canteen).
Andhra food is known for its spicy and hot nature(also the summer there, not the girls), but RECW was a shade away. The food in a couple of places in Warangal were real hot and spicy to the extent of one remembering the real heat the next day morning….
But Pune is far away, is distance in taste is measured prolly light years. Here everything is sweet, from Chicken curry to PBM(Paneer Butter Masala)…. I don’t feel that I have had food unless it is hot and spicy.
I just had a sweet PBM, tried my level best pouring in all the peper powder that was kep on the table and still I was missing the real heat….
U gotta be sweet as they say, but curries needn’t be….
Trying to add spice to Pune life….

At the beginning of REC Warangal life way back in 1998(ayyo!!!!, I am getting older), just the day after every “state’s” fresher’s party, the only thing happening for the full first semester was guys moving to the Ladies Hostel(LH) , calling up girls and taking/giving intros.
Can easily be termed as a refelction of the energy in guys just out of school(read Pre Univ college, if this is not the case), trying to find a partner(friend???) for a period ranging from a couple of months in college to , well….. the whole life…. and thankfully most girls were not enagaged, and not the “I have a boyfriend back home” types…..
The equation expected in a B School is totally different, the average age of the crowd when compared to a Grad College is atleast 3 years more, so the level of maturity had obviously to be a bit higher. My expectations are shattered….. the crowd is very similar REC days…. Intros are still the in thing…
Guys are trying to be “Impressionists”-thats creating an impression, rite…. Even though the “I have a boy friend” or rather ” I have a fiancee” junta forms a small part of the fairer sex pie…. Impressionists are all around, trying to get a bite of the better part of the pie…..
all the best

Stats, Eco, Accountancy and Maths – e-learning doubt clearing session was carried out today. But as the case with any post lunch session, Accountancy provided the right ambience for almost half the crowd to doze of (leaving the one bigger half of Commerce and Eco fundus who had answers to any question before they were really asked)….
The mallu fanatic in me found out a couple of malluz around in our batch, and also some of the Non Res Malluz…
went to the library and the computer center, things are good there, Intranet is awesome, hope I had enf time to read all the stuff there….
reports from SIBM continue…

One beginning, a good one…thus life began at SIBM.
Me strolled to the institute like a kid going to LKG, part reluctantly , partly with enthu….
Start of a 2 year long journey to study hard and end up with a decent pay packet in hand, a journey after 3 years of struggle beginning from 2002…. I am going to study, RECW will never repeat here, promise!
Day 1 – was just day one of the 14 day induction program , only after which classes are going to start.
After the usual affairs like submission of pics for IDs, we had a good time listening to 2 alums, Shabbir Merchant(ex Wipro Infotech HR Head, now with Growtalent) and Minnochar Patel( running a finishing school, Ecole Solitaire )…
They had formal talk with us initially and post lunch was the open house.
No better words to describe the time we spent with these 2 guys, the second one simply superb, excellent speaker, motivator, really captivating words, struck the real chord between him and us…… Time constraints prevented us from getting more from them, prolly the lightest and interesting words ever heard in my 24 years of existence….
Remind you that we listened to both these guys in an open house post lunch(a sumptous lunch from the insti’s side), without even a single eyelid in the whole crowd shutting down..
One trivia- this Patel’s brother is the present Mr.India….
Then the usual faculty intros and then the student council intros…
Thats the end of Day 1 as a B-Skool kid…

Reached Pune yesterday after a long and ardous(nay!!!) journey covering Payyanur and Bangalore. Dint have much difficulty in locating Shreyash and Saurabh my MBA roomies .
Got into the apartment, lotsa cleaning done, tons of effort to be put in to set things to order.
The real beginning is tomorrow when I am formally inducted to the MBA-dual program at SIBM, Pune. Forgetting the inglorious past and waiting for a glorious one….
