You are funny. Extremely hilarious blog post. Nice observation.
But I think mallus are just being creative about their names, as any
other region around the globe. Come`n, Every nation has its own variation of the popular names, like george, Elizabeth, John, Jesus… “The name John has 85 variant forms: Anno, Ean, Eian, Eion, Euan, Evan, Ewan, Ewen, Gian, Giannes, Gianni, Giannis, Giannos, Giovanni, Hannes, Hanno, Hans, Hanschen, Hansel, Hansl, Iain, Ian, Ioannes, Ioannis, Ivan, Ivann, Iwan, Jack, Jackie, Jacky, Jan, Jancsi, Janek, Janko, Janne, Janos, Jean, Heanno, Jeannot, Jehan, Jenkin, Jenkins, Jens, Jian, Jianni, Joannes, Joao, Jock, Jocko, Johan, Johanan, Johann, Johannes, John-Carlo, John-Michael, Johnn, Johon, Johnie, Johnnie, Johnny, John-Patrick, John-Paul, Jon, Jona, Jonnie, Jovan, Jovanney, Jovanney, Jovanni, Jovonni, Juan, Juanito, Juwan, Sean, Seann, Shane, Shaughn, Shaun, Shawn, Vanek, Vanko, Vanya, Yanni, Yanno and Zane.”

Similarly for others. All these variants are made up by people of each region, just like mallus did it. So, rididculing mallus about their unconventionality could only be attributed to other`s resistance to new ideas. Afterall, name is just to identify one person from another. Meaning does not really make a difference. So those who do love meanings, could have them and others who are happy inventing their own meanings should be just fine.

Hi Nikhil, are you a racialist? You must know that for each region they have their own customs and traditions. You don’t have the right to make fun at some other race. Nikhil do u know, what is the literacy rate of north Indian states, it is less than 70%, but in our state is above 90%. And do you know, infant mortality ratio of United States of America is 16 per 1000, and India (excluding kerala state) 32 per 1000, and keep in mind Nikhil that in kerala it is 15.3 per 1000 (its lesser than even U.S).

Dont know how I ended up in this blog! but what u wrote about mallu names is very correct. We named our son Akhil but our daughter is named Akku… now dont ask me how I (the blame is mine) ended up with this name… most probably in memory of a girl whom I liked a lot and their family ( the father passed away early).

Anyway keep writing.. u write very well.
